I have seen so many lovely knitted poppies that I wonder if most folk who have one might not be tempted to keep them for next year, and maybe forget to put a few coppers in the the collection tin. just a thought.
Well they might as may the many (like me) who have poppy brooches or pins. I do still pop some money in the box. Mind you wearing the poppy is for remembrance not only for donations.
We both have small enamel brooches which have both the red poppy and the blue cornflower. The red poppy is to remember the fallen and the blue cornflower is to remember the wounded who were wrapped in blue bandages in France in the 1914/18 war. We always buy a paper poppy each year as well.
A work colleague of "She who must be obeyed" knits them. "She" brought one home and I commented that I would have liked one. You have it then but you have to donate to the poppy appeal, I have promised "She" said. I put a tenner in a box at the local co-op. and will do the same next year if I wear it again.
