AFTERNOON TEA is the best term but clearly doesn't fit. I suppose this is You Mag not The Times so maybe it's just lazy setting and cream tea is the answer. Are there any crossing letters we can try to find?

Cream tea works if you say it's something you can eat together with sandwiches and cake . Afternoon tea at Betty's usually includes a cream tea (scones with cream and jam + pot of tea) plus sandwiches and cake

ff Yes, agreed, I was just going on the Cream Tea definition which I have had in Plymouth. No sandwiches.
