If those figures are correct people must be buying a hell of a lot of the 'premium' stuff.

'Ordinary' gin is priced at between £12 and £16 in Asda. The 'premium' brands are generally priced between £20 and £25, with just a handful of brands in the £30 to £40 price range.

However dividing £1.4 billion by 51 million bottles yields an average price of £27.45 per bottle. (Perhaps that's because the figures include gin purchased in bars, rather than in shops, though???)

M&S Gin 22 is amazing. Despite bring sold out online it's on offer at £24. It was £40 at one time. I'll pop into my local store today.

Never been that keen on gin; don't really understand the recent over the top popularity. Well, except for sloe gin maybe.

It's not just here, OG, it seems to have achieved cult status globally.

During my days in Spain I noticed its popularity and the selection in Carrefour was outstanding.

One of those things that if someone offered me a glass of their favourite that'd be fine, but I'd not risk buying a bottle to sit in the cupboard.
