can you believe this - friend was gently telling me on the phone that she mentioned to "her" friend that she was going down south with me and another woman. Her friend has said "oh me and me mother will meet you there and have some lunch". Ah Jaysus I haven't been away in 10 years and I'm having to do small-talk with people I don't know. Friend feels awful. Thank God there are 3 of us. Always loved 3 people travelling - that's an oul myth "two company 3s a crowd". I'll pass myself. Do think "her" friend was a bit forward there.

Only if friend's "friend and mother" actually turn up! Suggest the three of you agree a plan to handle that eventuality in advance or you might have to think on your feet a bit sharpish that is - if you to wish to avoid them?
Jenny....Just go for lunch. You do make mountains out of molehills.
I see jj,s issue. She rarely if ever has left maxie, . So even going on this wee holiday is maybe a wee bit stressful. Don't fret about meeting friends of friends, some people are forward and want to be involved in everything. Just relax, and go with the flow :-)
I can see jj's point but it would have odd had the friend not offered to meet up knowing her friend was coming down South - am sure all will be well.

Enjoy your break JJ.
That's what I mean Anne, go with the flow. I'm actually shy but as long as I have someone with me it's surprisingly easy to join in a conversation and start to relax.

well off shortly and left Maxie last night - I won't be doing this again ever unless I get my regular dog sitter who has just moved to a new house with an acre of land.

I missed him (dog) last night and this morning - what a silent house. Silence speaks volumes. Can't wait until I get him tomorrow.
