This time last year we had two 'flat type' radiators replaced by the modern 3 inch wide
type. They are hard against the wall. Is this right. I thought there should be a space between the radiator and the wall to enable the hot air to circulate. Am I worrying about nothing?

Don't the brackets on the wall they're fixed to create a gap at the back of about an inch or so?
As the Goalie says, the fixing brackets stand the rad off the wall the required amount. I can't understand just how they've managed to fix them.

The only thing that I can get between the radiator and the wall is a nailfile. I didn,t see the brackets as I was not there.. Do you think I should have them readjusted or leave them as they are? The one radiator doesn't send out enough heat to warm the room if its really cold.
can you post make and model of rad you are trying to fit.

TonyV The rads are alredy fitted. Just wondered if they should be hard against the wall
The short answer is, no, they shouldn't be tight to the wall. Since you mention that they don't provide enough heat, I would be more concerned with the sizing.
It's a bit more involved, but I would consider taking it off and replacing with, preferably, a larger one.......... or a high output type.
