It often seems as though more men than women are affected by this terrible disease, but are there official numbers to verify this, or is it about equal?

I don't know the numbers but as women live longer than men it's likely more of them will suffer from dementia in their final years.
i reckon that more women suffer from dementia, seeing as how many live longer, my mum had it, it was a terrible thing to witness. I hope one day they find some sort of cure for it.
No, you are correct........dementia is more common in women about 3rds women 1rtd men (roughly).
LOL...2 thirds women .
As if we haven't got enough rubbish to deal with. I think the gender ratios on different types vary more widely
