I heard this morning that they are thinking about putting a tax on white bread now. What are your thoughts on this idea? What will they tax us for next? breathing?? I normally have hovis wholemeal bread myself but it would affect the pockets of lots of families that are already struggling to make ends meet..

If they lowered the price of whole meal I don’t see what the problem would be?

They were talking about it on the Jeremy Vine show this morning. I believe they said it was all about it in the papers today
Tesco brown bread 50p Tesco white bread 50p
It was much simpler when there was only White Bread and Brown Bread - these days there is so much choice.

I like Scottish bread - Mother's Pride - but it is too dry to toast. White bread is nice with bacon or sausages but doesn't do my IBS much good.3

I like seeded bread too, but not all the time. I am using the 50/50 stuff just now.

Bacon, sausages, cheese etc etc can go on the tortillas so I keep them in the fridge.
Hmmm...I can't find anything about it.
I'm not sure taxing it is the answer. People will still buy what they want.
Can't find any news reports about this.
I used to love a sliced loaf called Nutty Brown many years ago - anyone else remember it?
For health i get 50 / 50 but i luv white tacky bread, especially with cheese, butter then squished in clingfilm... ahh like the old school days!
I bake my own brown loaf, it's easier to make that than be running over to the shops, suppose for home bakers, if they couldn't nab them for tax on the white bread they probably would tax the white flour. I can't see it happening
Best bread around me comes from a Turkish Hypermarket 500 yds away. Large Pide the size of a serving platter for 50p. Springy and light. Freezes well also. Hovis is not real bread in comparison.imo
When I lived in Turnpike Lane I used to love shopping in the shops bread salads and watermelon so cheap and flavoursome
