Am I correct in assuming that if one partner dies all his/her asets are automatically
transfered to the surviving spouse on presentation of Death Certificate wihout having a
will?

No - there's more to it than that. The country matters too - the law in Scotland is different to that in England and Wales.

Thanks. The info mentioned is pretty good. If I read it right and my assetts are less than £250,000 (and they are much less than that} everthing will pass to my wife, and if anything happens to her the remainung assetts will pass to the children and it will not be necessary to make a will.
