A couple were in financial difficulties and, after talking things through one night, agreed that they needed to economise wherever they could.


The next evening, the husband returned home from work red in the face, gasping for breath and looking totally exhausted.


"What on earth has happened?" said the wife. Her husband replied, "I decided to run home from work behind my bus - and I saved £1.50".


"You idiot" said his wife. "If you had run home behind a taxi, you could have saved £10!"
