Dylan released this yesterday......17 minutes long and said to have been recorded a while ago. Not sure myself...he may have written it a while ago, but he voice tells me that it is at least recent vocals. Possibly overlaid an older recording.
This is the message that Dylan posted on YouTube . If you have a Youtube account there are some great replies. I have listened to this twice today and once last night before I went off to bed. Loving it more with every play through.
""Greetings to my fans and followers with gratitude for all your support and loyalty across the years. This is an unreleased song we recorded a while back that you might find interesting. Stay safe, stay observant and may God be with you. - Bob Dylan"" sic
Unless my horses do something, that is probably the best 17 minutes of my day. Well worth waiting all these years for. Thanks for that, Togo. I will be adding that to my YouTube playlist and I will no doubt be playing it so often, i'll know the words by the end of next week :-))
"""Tommy, can you hear me? I'm the Acid Queen
I'm riding in a long, black Lincoln limousine
Ridin' in the backseat next to my wife
Headed straight on in to the afterlife" I'm just a patsy like Patsy Cline""
Twas a dark day in Dallas, November '63
A day that will go down in infamy
President Kennedy was a-ridin' high
Good day to be livin' and a good day to die
Being led to the slaughter like a sacrificial lamb
He said, "Wait a minute boys, you know who I am?"
"Of course we do, we know who you are."
Then they blew off his head while he was still in the car.
Oh dear I'm afraid I have to disagree. I got 5 minutes in and nearly fell asleep, just a tuneless dirge to my ears. I my defence I have never liked his music, just not my thing. Please don't think any the less of me:-))
Don't even understand why you bothered listening if you never liked him, Margo. Don't think any less of you. Your loss. One man's/woman's meat, etc, etc :-))
Ken, because it's always worth giving something another try - tastes change with age and I thought I might be missing something. I also vividly remember the day JFK was shot so the subject interested me. The Lyrics work for me as poetry, so I guess it's just his voice.
My kids always used to ask how I could stand listening to him, Margo. Two of them now have a few songs on their playlists :-) Don't think they'd appreciate this one, though. His voice certainly hasn't improved with age. Though, as you say, the lyrics certainly do work as poetry.
Cheers for the site Ken...I hadn't gone awol....just sneaked off for a shower and a shave.....now I am having a Sherry. My own variation on the 3 sh's. :))It gets better each listen Ken. I have to take care not to kill it for myself with overplay though.
I actually purchased this for 99p with my ITunes account....... bargain.
It will now transfer to my IPod for the car. At the same time I got the following 3 tracks.
