Michael Portillo has just mentioned Clive of India. It sparked memories of my grammar school. We were divided into houses. We had Clive, Ragdale,
Philips and I think Spencer. How on earth I remembered that after 61 years after I left school I don't know.
Apart from Clive I don't know who the other three people were!
Plenty of people I want to school with walked 3/4 miles each way daily and thought nothing of it. We have a school on our road now and every morning it is packed with parents dropping off their little darlings who only live a few hundred yards away. Whichever genius at the planning dept allowed a school to be built on a cul-de-sac should have his brains looked at. I pray we never need fire or ambulance at school times as they just won't get in here.
Thank you Chris for the Facebook link. I really enjoyed trawling through. I actually found two photos of myself and my form. Very interesting trying to remember names of fellow pupils after 60 plus years.
I'm pleased that you found something there which was of relevance to you, Caran.
I can't recall ever having any class photographs taken while I was at grammar school but I've got loads of photos I took of school friends on my own camera that I look at now and find myself thinking "Who the hell was that and how did I know them?"
