Windows 10 Crawling On Start-Up
5 Answers
My Windows 10 is getting slower and slower on boot-up and loading pages.
I have looked at the start-up screen and disabled everything i can see that I clearly don't want on start-up, but still no joy.
Is there anything else i can do so speed things up please?

I've known the updating element of antivirus software to 'get stuck in a loop', causing computers to run incredibly slowly. It was a well-known problem with many versions of Microsoft's own antivirus programs (and, for all I know, it may still be, although Windows Defender is running without any problems for me at the moment). I've also encountered the same basic problem with AVG (although not with Avast).
So, if you're able to get into Task Manager, take a look to see if there's a particular process that's hogging all of your computer's resources. (If it is an updating problem, it might not necessarily be with your antivirus program. There could be something else that's trying unsuccessfully to update itself).
