we heard the story about the laser on the Danish goalkeeper but long before that happened take a look at this - watch the replays / records! You can see them shuffle. It's bad.

"Danish wall slides over and completely blocks Pickford’s view just as Damsgaard starts his approach"

It was an amazing goal! Shocking actually. It was the goal of the tournament! The only freekick that became a goal.

Unfortunately, it seems it was illegal.

This is after the decision to give the freekick was controversial itself!
yes all attackers must be at least 1m from a wall of more than 2 players. So they have nowt to moan about.
Question Author
It's not even the distance from the english wall, it's the fact they blocked pickfords line of sight, that's illegal
no blocking the line of sight is fine and what they would seek to do. It's the proximity that is illegal.
It’s dreadful . They are just savages .
Question Author
It's impeding because the wall, when moving, wasn't in playing distance
I know, dreadful
If the penaty taker had started his approach would that not haveput the ball into play?
what do you mean "playing distance"??
Question Author
The ball isn't in play until it is kicked because if it was in play anyone defender could run up and kick it themselves
danny, no the ball is not in play until it has move at least 1 circumference. That goes for any set piece.
Question Author
"what do you mean "playing distance"??"

In playing distance of the ball. The ball wasn't in play yet. It hadn't been kicked.
yes they must be 10 yards away from the ball and 1 yard away from the wall. Other than that they can stand anywhere.
Question Author
I don't even think the freekick should have been given. The commentator said "you could throw a coat over the lot of them" and a bit of hugging / touching got denmark the free kick but the touching and hugging was from both sides.
Not all of those in the England wall remained behind the line sprayed by the ref.

Regarding how far the ball has to travel to be in play, it need only move after being kicked.

Please no one start a thread listing all the zillions of other goals e er s tied in football which someone or other can no doubt claim should have been disallowed :-)

Or is this a windup and I’ve fallen for it …
