Watched this film on Prime last night. James McAvoy and Claire Foy. Really exciting and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Heard about it on The Graham Norton Show lat night where the gorgeous James was a guest. We watched the film straight afterwards.
Mentioned this a couple of days ago, Pat. Also pointed out that McEvoy was not given a script and learned about the plot as it developed. Excellent performance and a half decent film.
I watched it a couple of nights ago, very good. Prime offered me The Father, with Antony Hopkins, which was also good. Then "My Son"... just waiting for the Holy ghost now :-)
Not many films get my attention all the way through. This certainly did. It hadn't happened since The Breaking Bad films. I love films like this. Sorry Ken, I didn't seen your post.
The other film i mentioned a few days back is The Forgotten Battle, a 2 hour+ story about the battle of the Scheldt Estuary in 1944. The estuary was held by the Germans, preventing much needed supplies getting to allied forces. It is based on true events but the 3 main characters are fictional. Another half decent film - Netflix, with no big names (which i often find a plus).
No need to apologise Pat. Just checked back and there were no replies, so no-one saw it. Or those that did just ignored it. I'm used to being ignored :-))
I think we might have watched that too Ken. Certainly Mr Lottie's favourite sort of films. I like them too. I like a lot of action in films, especially true war stories.
Watched the gorgeous James McAvoy on the Graham Norton show last night. My Son now on my "to watch" list. As a young student, James shared a flat with my friend's daughter in London. Have always had a soft spot for him.

where it's at is of course the schelde ( skelder ) - Belgium . I mentioned ma daydy was captured on the Shelt - and of course 1944 came up.
No - My 1940. The Scheldt had to be held at all costs (Gort (*) I think) to allow the troops to be taken off at Dunkirk. Defend to the last man and the last bullet. Now THAT really was the forgotten battle. - Film clips of the German Army invading in rubber boats is the Scheldt 1940 if anyone cares. Clearly they invaded other places like that.
so by 1944 he had already been in a POW camp for four years. Lest anyone forget or heavens ! rewrite history ! Did anyone see the Beeb rewriting the history around the Bloody Sunday massacre today?
after the catastrophic defeat at dunkirk, Gort ends up as Minister Plenipotentiary in charge of sandbags ( home service)
