I am about to buy a small 800W/400W replacement electric fire as mine packed up last night, The broken one I have has two bars and I want to make sure that I do not buy one that has bright dazzling orange light radiating from the bars, If it say halogen on the description, does this mean it will have?

If you want something electrical that doesn't "glow", there are fan heaters, ceramic heaters and oil-filled radiators.
Oil-filled radiators would be my choice...

No, I want a small radiant electric fire like the one that has just packed up. There are lots online and on Ebay but I don't want one that emits bright orange light. Does the term halogen mean it will have? I had a previous taller one which oscillated and gave up the ghost a long while ago but it was dazzling and I could not easily watch the tv with it on.
Why do you want another of those Star, they get awful reviews?
Ginge's suggestion is good, it's what I would buy if I was in your position.
