I love sat nav when I'm on my own. But if I was co-piloting I used to love an old fashioned road atlas.
However, in a previous life heading to Cornwall on the M6, I remember giving the instruction several times to move to the left since our junction was looming. As we passed said junction I remonstrated with the driver who said 'that said south west'. I responded despairingly "the last time I ĺooked Cornwall was south ****** west".

I met people with a similar sense of direction (or lack of it) when working on the railways, Barmaid.
Once, when working at Ipswich station, a lady asked me when the next train to Colchester was. Upon being told, she followed up with "Have I come the best way round?".
In order to be able to answer her question, I asked where she'd started out from. Upon being told that she'd come from Farnham, I pointed out that she must have come through Colchester to get to Ipswich. However she was totally adamant that she hadn't.
When I asked her about her route, she said "Well, the only time that I've been to Colchester before, I started out from Birmingham. So I got trains from Farnham to Birmingham first, so that I could start from there again"!
