My wife has just seen a young woman she hasn't seen for a few years, we knew her when she was a toddler and she has a very unusual name.
My wife was delighted to learn that she has named her own small children John and Janet.
My next door's neighbour's grandson is a toddler named Arthur.

Are these traditional names making a come back? Have you noticed a trend?

I know of a baby called 'Finnan'. I burst out loud with laughter. Poor kid, I thought. People looked at me uncomprehendingly.
They'd never heard of 'finnan haddie'. :)

I wonder if there will be the names of boys in my younger days coming back; Stephen, Michael, Andrew, Darren, Nigel. Can’t see it somehow.

Years ago, we named our Norwegian Elkhound Freya, and I've known a few ladies with the name.

I'd be surprised if any child knew of finnan haddie these days but if they do, that lad will be in for a codding :)
