Microsoft Edge on this laptop which is working fine.  I haven't tried my desktop but I suspect that will also be ok.  It's just the phone.  I expect I'll get there eventually.

Tried Microsoft Edge too which works fine on this laptop - but on all four that I've tried I now have two avatars, side by side, and no emojis.  I'm giving up tonight and if I haven't lost the will to live with this phone, will try again tomorrow.  For now I'll stick with the laptop.   Thanks for trying to help.

Try using Private mode - if that works then might be time to reset safari
