A new YouGove poll reveals that the Cons are trailing well behind Labour  .And the reform party is just seven points behind the Cons , after overtaking the Lib Dems and the Green Party. Could the reform party push the Cons into  third place.????🤣.

Cutting Inheritance Tax would gain the Tories a substantial number of votes IMV. The nil rate band is unchanged since 2007.

Do many people pay inheritance tax?

Yes - due to the rise in property values. The nil rate band would be largely used up if you were leaving an average £250,000 house.

I would increase the nil rate to £500,000 and index link it to the rise in property prices.

According to 2020/21 figure around 27,000 people paid ineritance tax of the 580,000 people who died, that's less than 5%

In answer to the OP, no. It's good for Labour and I'm glad about the prospect of a Labour govt, but the GE is a long way off and things may turn out differently. I think at the very least Labour will win back most, if not all, of the "Red Wall" seats. However, I'm finding it difficult to see how the Tories can turn it round.

Given the SNP's recent problems, Labour may take more seats in Scotland too.

Yes. For a definite election victory, Labour need to make ground in Scotland. If that happens, then I think they'll gain an overall majority.
