After a successful rescue, said fire engine ran over the cat. Reginald smirked when he reported the story and hoards of complaint letters were received by ITV

I recall that incident very well. It was operation Burberry when troops drove the Green Goddesses during the firemen's strike. The old lady who's cat had been rescued by the squaddies invited the crew in for tea and biscuits. They accidentally reversed over it on return to barracks.I'm afraid Reggie Bosanquet was not the only peson who found that amusing. There were howls of laughter from the troops at St John's Wood barracks when that news item was on the telly in the crew ready room.It was said that Mr Bosanquet often read the news when feeling a 'little unwell'.
