The PNC has had a less glorious past. IRA got an operator on the team, who noted - "address restricted number plates" = unmarked police cars. But she did not write them down. Big legal hoo ha about whether Looking at A Screen can be a criminal act.
Later a PC was convicted of selling numbers and addresses to casinos ( so they cd cold call them and invite them to gamble at THEIR casino)
now I am glad to reassure readers they store key strokes. ( which post office horizon never did).
it's just possible, even in these straitened times, that money wasn't involved, only natural curiosity. In a hospital not a million miles from me, some years ago now, a patient was admitted with some sort of bizarre rectal/gerbil condition. Photos were soon whizzing round the hospital intranet, and then beyond. There were bitter complaints from the offended party (I believe his name may have leaked out, which is genuinely shocking) and dozens of staff received a rollocking and in some cases were fired.
My informants, a respectable young couple, were uninvolved, but admitted that this was only because they were on holiday; had they been at work they would no doubt have looked at them too.
jno, according to Snopes there has never been a case of a gerbil being put where it never should be put.
