After waking this morning to a chilly, icy landscape some posts to warm us all up would be welcome.

You'd all be better off in Blacpool;

We`ve booked a couple of days in Coventry, the middle day to meet the Northern Belle for a trip up to Carlisle with a steam locomotive, some beautiful scenery and lovely food - a brunch on the way up and a full 5 course dinner on the way back.

That sounds lovely, I've seen that train do that journey on tv and it looks glorious.

If you're into old transport there's a good motor museum right in the centre of Coventry. It used to be free but they've started charging for it.

Not had a holiday for years. Maybe decades. Never seems a good time, and too much effort to plan.

Absolutely nothing. Haven't had a holiday at all this year, or last : (

Nothing planned. This year it was Switzerland and England. Have to say, the former was better than the latter.

Can't make my mind up - Kerbstone Edge or Yargate.😂

dave - Kerbstone Edge, I think, it will give you a bigger change of scenery than Yargte.

Thinking about Costa Rica

Sunny Hayling Island - bright and sunny all day today as usual.

Off on hols in a few days. Will be in the Gulf of Oman with the turtles by 8.30 in the morning hopefully.

Bit early for us to book for next year yet.  Had couple of weeks on Costa Del Sol this year with a nostalgic trip to Gibralta to see what is like these days as not been there for almost 50 years.  Was too busy and quite run down from the way I remembered it.  Had some local trips too with nights away and trips to Theatre.

Curlyfires, you are going to absolutely adore Belle Mare! 🌴✨ It’s got these fabulous upmarket restaurants that are just perfect for a chic night out. And the best part? There’s an amazing family-friendly water park that your little one will love splashing around in! 💦👶 It’s the perfect blend of luxury and fun for the whole family.

Have you started planning your trip yet?

Doh! 'Curlyfries81' sorry 😊

Oh, me? 🌸 Next June, I’m jetting off to Japan with a few friends for one of my besties from uni’s wedding. Her family is absolutely loaded and they’re covering our fares and accommodation for the long wedding weekend – how amazing is that? 💖👰

After the wedding festivities, we’re planning to hop on trains and explore, but we haven’t decided on our exact adventures yet. The possibilities are endless! 🚄✨

Have you ever been to Japan? Any must-see spots we should add to our list?

My little ones are 11 and 8. The younger one loves water slides but the older one is just not interested.

We've already booked the package but we've not looked at excursions or extras yet.

Puzzled, one of my friends who I was with in Poland two weeks ago is going to Costa Rica 🇨🇷 in November with her partner. They're just winging it. All they've booked so far is the flights ✈️ and hire car 🚗. They're a lot braver than me.

These upmarket holiday camps  in third world countries hold no appeal for me. Long fights to places where the staff live like peasants no thanks. We have a visit to Reykjavik planned before Christmas and a stay with friends who have a villa in the canaries for NYE . Summer we stay at home .

OH and I are just back from our annual holiday - cottage in Scotland, Bentpath, above Langholm.  Lovely area (as are they all).

Unusually, I am leaving him in October to spend  3 days with my sister on the Costa del Sol in a 5* all-inclusive hotel which has an adults'-only pool!  Memo, must start packing.....

This is because we have both had a horrible year. Sis especially because her husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma last year and died rather horribly last August.  They ran an MOT garage and he was a partner and the legal ramifications have been awful - it is taking so long  toget probate these days.

So I am accompanying her off for a sybaritic few days.  It will take me 5 days, travel to hers and sleep, then an early morning flight from Leeds/Bradford, return on a night flight, sleep and then get home.

Rather worried about leaving OH so long, have alerted surgery and will ensure that someone from the village checks on him every day.

I can't quite believe that it is going to happen - I do need a break very much.
