My first thought for an answer for this one was 'curdled ?'  but I couldn't think of anything for the second word.

1. ?? Vinegar mother  .. though I doubt if the word vinegar would appear both in clue and answer.

Hazlinny - that is on the lines of what I was thinking. I came up with Natural Mother. It is so difficult what to put!

I'd go for pickled onions for this one. The joke was doing the rounds a few years ago- I can't remember which comedian came up with it
