My appliance starts bleeping after 5 mins and shows two of the program lights ( far left ) flashing also the salt light comes on when the power is turned on and stays on ( is this normal ?). Water seems to be entering but not spraying ((is this normal?)

I take it this 'appliance' is a dishwasher? Is the salt reservoir empty? Not sure how old the machine is, but it also sounds like its clogged with food or limescale - have you taken the food traps out and cleaned them?

Hi,
I have filled the salt reservoir and the salt light is now out ( thanks for that ). I have also cleaned out the filters in the bottom of the dishwasher unit and soaked up the excess water which had congregated in there. The unit was bought 14 months ago . Problem arised after i disconnected the cold water inlet ( to use for garden hose which i have done on numerous occasions ). It was then reconnected and unit switched on . The other thing i done was select a different program from which i normally do. Initially when i cleaned the filters and soaked up the water ( and you can hear the basin flood ( if that is the correct term)microswitch open and close activating , the unit appeared to function correctly then i opened the door mid cycle and problem again .

Stop opening the door mid cycle! Why are you doing this, most machines have 'cut off' that kicks in once the door is opened to save flooding your kitchen and covering you with spray! Doh! However - the machine should continue with the original programmed cycle again once the door is shut.
