How can I add e-mail addresses ?

Hi,
I've just got broadband from Tiscali (for my sins !) but can't seem to add extra e-mail addresses. My main one is firstbit.[email protected] but when I follow the 'instructions' to add one (which aren't accurate anyway), I keep getting error
Not allowed characters in the USERNAME value
I get rid of the dot in the middle but same error. Links on Tiscali don't seem to be working so is there anyone here can help ? Please !

Must just be a problem with the characters your using.

Just been to my account in Tiscali followed instructions and e-mail account created.

Your not trying to put the @tiscali bit in the new e-mail address field are you

I did put a 'dot' in originally but when it came back with the error I took it out so all I had was one word, just letters. And no, I didn't add the @tiscali.co.uk bit.
Fast coming to the conclusion Tiscali & I aren't going to be 'friends' over the next 12 months ... :o(
