Hedge Trimmer
3 Answers
Last year I saw a hedge trimmer made by Black & Decker. It was extendible and the blades could be cranked at angles, to trim the top of the hedge. They have now dissapeared from the shops. Have they stopped making them, and were they any good?

I have one but it's not Black and Decker. It's made by Gardena but it sounds exactly as you describe. I've had it about 4 years and it really is great to use. Have a hedge about 7/8 foot high and it is very easy and quick as you can cut it with a sweeping action. Not very good for cutting at 90 degrees for the top but not bad. It cost about 150 and worth every penny.
Try ebay or Amazon or google.

Hi
Thanks for your answer. Yes I have seen the Gardena, they make a corded one and a cordless one.
You say it's not too good for cutting at 90 degrees. It was for cutting the tops of tall heges I really wanted one for, I have a standard electric trimmer for the sides.
How do you cut the tops of yours?

Hi
I do have a go at cutting the top but as my hedge is pretty high it doesn't make a very good job of it. I end up (where I can) using step ladders. Even so i'm still very pleased I bought it and would buy another if I had to. It is great cutting the sides as you can get a long sweeping movement and it is so much quicker than a regular trimmer. Mine's corded by the way.
