Toddlers with Diabetes!
2 Answers
Does anyone have any experience of very young children with diabetes? My youngest who is nearly 20 months is showing all the signs and I am taking him to the doctors in the morning, I have never seen a child drink as much, eat as much, pee as much yet be as skinny. It was only when my Aunt pointed it out that I thought oh my goodness, he does show all the signs, as my cousin was exactly the same.

Hi my neice was diagnosed with diabetes when she was about 14 months old - she had been ill with measels and was apparantly only about an hour away from going into a coma when a locum doctor recognised the problem and got her into hospital. She is now coming up for 7 and manages her diabetes very well - she looks a lot healthier than her older brother who doesn't have it. I think that having it from so young means that it has really always been part of her routine and she is used to not having sweets etc. Hope your wee one is okay, as it is preferable not to have it, but it is certainly perfectly possible to have a healthy happy child with diabetes.
