It's not the spuds it's the bloody French and Nordics encroaching on our once owned international waters stealing our cod!!!
The most annoying thing is though, that haddock (which tastes like cod anyway) is in abundance and the bloody chippies put haddock prices up aswell.
However, if you think about even �4.50 for a (believe it of not) quite healthy meal made from a fish that comes from about 400 miles away, spuds that were grown with love and no washing up to do afterwards, is quite good value.
Did you have a pickled onion as well?
