ferret died,,

went out to the ferret this morning and found he died in his sleep during the night,,he was fine yesterday running around,,and climbing,,he doesnt seem to have grown much,,,he was only a few months old,,we have been told it cudve been his kidneys,dont how if anyone wud know thnx

Sadly, with any domesticated animal, they can die unexpectedly, having exhibited no symptoms, and appearing to be perfectly healthy.
Common causes of sudden death in pets are liver or kidney failure, or heart failure, but he may have picked up an infection which did not manifest itself before today.
For a charge, your lcoal vet may perform a post mortem, so at least you can set your mind at rest, and if possible, avoid a similar fate for your next pet, should you choose to have another one.

I used to run a ferret rescue service and was greatly involved with ferrets a few years ago, I know a disease was starting to spread around ferrets called Aleutians disease which is contagious and can cause sudden death. see here:

thnx ratter,id never heard of it,,i dont know if thats what it was or wether it was another problem,all i know is he seems to have stopped growing,he was still small,,we r assuming it was something internal anyway,,but for now,,,we'll put off getting another ferret ,,and get the shed disinfected and cleared,,,thnx
