Forgive me but are A-levels the equivelent to gcse's or higher?

A Levels (Advanced level) are usually studied for a further two years after school leaving age (although can be studied by adults at any age).
As others have mentioned, it's usually 3 or 4 studied at a time but I do know very clever kids currently studying 6 !!!
