It only costs $1.50 each way. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson hotel for two nights. It was great. Go on enjoy yourself. And in Dec the christmas decoration will be on and it feels so much like chirstmas when you was a small child. All trees on the streets have lights in them it is fantastic. Just one thing it is very very cold . Maybe even snowing that time of year..Look on the interent at hotels and then go for the same hotel in all companies to find the cheapest price.
the date is maybe unavailable just because it's too far away; I can't believe hotels are already sold out for 11 months ahead. (It's not as if you're looking for Christmas itself.) Try again in a few months. Google "city breaks"="new york"; you shouldn't have any trouble, honest, the city is full of hotels. (They're not very cheap, though.)
I wouldn't leave it too late to book as the beginning of December is a really popular time for New York, honestly LOADS of people go Christmas shopping around that time!
I've looked at some hotels for you

I've guessed at the dates as you can see.
When looking for flights do consider flights to Newark, it is only over the river from New York, and to be honest I'd rather fly there than into JFK.
You could also check out your local travel agent, they do some flight and hotel deals which may or may not suit you.

Hi Devil,
Try staying in Queens, NY. It is one of the 5 boroughs that make up NYC. It is easily accessible to Manhattan via public transportation and the hotel rate will be much, much cheaper. There are a number of hotels near the international airport (JFK-also in Queens) that you would most likely be flying into. Cheaper than Manhattan for sure, but more than a hotel slightly further outside the airport.
While I understand the appeal of staying in Manhattan, it is very expensive and even more so in December. The hotels and restaurants hike up the prices even more because of the high tourist volume at Christmas time.
I am usually on CB, so if you have questions, feel free to ask.
