I had a problem with XP recogising my old camera (not supported by XP) the solution was to buy a USB card reader which accepted the camera memory card type (available at your local Poundland). No need for any drivers for the PC to access the memory.

Forget the software that came with the camera - it's just a waste of space. Plug in the camera, open my computer, you should see it under either "Devices with Removable Storage" or "Scanners and Cameras". From there you can treat it as just another hard drive. This is how I work with my MVX250i.
Don't forget that you need to set the camera in playback mode AND select the memory card, rather than the tape.
