Morning all, Ever since I installed an additional PSC, (HP photosmart C3100) I get a notification box on start-up telling me it's status, this I don't wish to know(I know when it is switched on or not). At shut down I get a box informing me ' Ending program - Device IO Notification Window' I have asked HP how I can remove both of these permanently but they don't seem to see that some people might find this annoying, their attitude is that surely everbody wants to be told all the time about the state of their 'wonderful' machines!! Apart from uninstalling the thing ,does anybody have any advice?. Nothing to technical please, or explain it as to a muppet!! Thanks in advance

I doubt it would do any harm to the operation of the printer to remove the status monitor from the startup

Click start and run then type into the run box msconfig and hit enter

When it loads click on the startup tab and look down the lict for something like HP digital imagining monitor and take the tick out from beside it then click OK and restart the computer..

That should stop the monitor loading at startup, try printing and if it all works OK all well and good.

If it's does effect the printing them repeat above steps and put the tick back in the box to re enable it.

Hi, Chuck, Have tried what you advised and got a message box after restart to basically tell me to go back to where I started ,ie common startup? This I've done so I still have the problem! In addition I have an icon come up on the task bar, Safely remove hardware which on left clicking refers to the PSC. How do I remove this icon??
when you restart the message told you you had made changes to the start up, there should have been a tick box to say don't show me this again, put a tick in that and click OK

it's only a warning message to inform you that the start up has been changed. you didn't need to go back to the startup settings and change anything because of the message.

The safely remove hardware icon appears whenever anything is plugged into the USB port, which the printer is. you can get rid of it by right clicking on the clock, select Customize Notifications then in the list click on safely remove hardware and select always hide iin the drop down menu to the right of it.

However if you do hide it and you ever plug a USB memory stick into your computer you will not easily be able to stop it to safely remove it.

Hi, again, Chuck, I have gone through it again as instructed and this has done the job!! The printer works ok and I get neither the message at start-up or close-down. I/ve printed your reply should I need it in the future Many, Many thanks it's been bugging me for quite a while. ( why couldn't HP have told me this themselves ???)
