i know this might seem like a silly question but im 18weeks pregnant and was wondering if its ok to run? would it harm the baby? does any1 know

I think not. Paula Radcliffe ran while pregnant. Yesterday my daughter, 26 weeks pregnant, took part in a Chicago run and no ill effects.

You really should check with your Midwife or Obstetrician. Usually, if you were accustomed to regular exercise before pregnancy, you can carry on within reason, but your heartrate should not rise above 140-145 beats per minute. Nor should to do any exercise which involves lying flat on your back, by the second Trimester.

I work in the Fitness Industry, but when I had my first ante natal appointment last week, the midwife banned me from even walking on a treadmill. Obviously I'm very disappointed, as I haven't done any exercise for 8 weeks, since finding out.

I have Fibroids and PCOS and she didn't think it would be safe to exercise, except for swimming, but I can't swim.

thanx for your answer velvetee. ive been running lately, hope it hasnt harmed the baby :/ i will talk to midwife about it next time i see her. i used to do alot of strenuous exercise and spoke to my midwife about it the 1st time i saw her, she said if im used to it, i should carry on but cut out the really strenuous things.
