Can Shearer Save Newcastle From The Drop?
Can the Geordie hero and talisman keep the Magpies up, and, if not, will it damage his reputation and credibility within the game?
After all, great footballer though he was, he has absolutely zilch experience in management.

If he fails, it's not his fault, because the Geordies were going down anyway. If he succeeds, his reputation will reach stratospheric proportions on Tyneside.
I believe that he will try to "rally the troops" with a tub-thumping speech before Saturday's game, telling them they should show pride and passion when wearing the famous black and white stripes etc etc, but I don't see how he can possibly turn that shower into a winning outfit, because, quite simply, THEY ARE AWFUL.
Newcastle will go down in my opinion (just wish they weren't playing Chelsea on Sat). Please bear in mind, though, I am the worlds worst tipster and also predicted that Man U would have the League title sewn up by now!!

I hope Newcastle avoid relegation this Year as they are a great Club with great fans, and that comes from a Liverpool fan!
However the appointment of Alan Shearer and Ian Dowie as his Assistant may not be enough to save them from the drop. He should have stepped forward at the bebinning of the Season as there just 8 Games left now. They really are in dire straits, but Football is a funny old game and anything can happen, so who knows. Haway the Lads as they say!!

As lesblue has said it's a no lose situation for him really. I don't think his inexperience can save a sinking ship but may rally them into paddling a little faster and gain a few more points than they would have.
Without predicting how many I can't see too many from these:
April
4 Chelsea (H)
11 Stoke (A)
18 Tottenham (A)
25 Portsmouth (H)
May
2 Liverpool (A)
9 Middlesbrough (H)
16 Fulham (H)
24 Aston Villa (A)

100% agree with lesblue
I also think Ashley is hoping for the "New manager = 2 wins" syndrome which might be enough to kickstart their poor season and save them from the drop
Personally I`d like to see them get relegated, then all the freeloaders will leave and they can rebuild again hopefully using local talent

I know trt, I`m not a Newcastle fan but the feelgood factor he brings to that club is unlike any other, hence the "Deluded Geordies" quote
They`ve had Gullit with his "Sexy Football" which was about as sexy as a p!ssed up geordie bird with a kebab after a night out
Dalgleish,Souness and Bobby Robson were no better...Big Sam...say no more...they need the 12th man which is Keegan
