bleeping out words on tv

was watching a film on tv this afternoon with a lot of the f word being saaid and partial nudity watched a programme at 8.30 tonight and someone said sh!t and it was bleeped out, how come??

Whatever, I think with Sky, because it is not over the air, and viewing has to be by some form of subscription (for which you obviously have to be an adult) then they can do this.
