I have an R31 Thinkpad laptop with only 16gb memory and am rapidly running out of space. Does anyone know which external hard drives would be compatible with this laptop.

As long as you have a USB 2 port, all external hard drives should be compatible.

And I don't thik the R31's have got USB 2 ports, they are USB 1.1 only

This means that although any external hard drive will work with it, they are going to work very very slowly.

it might take an 80Gb depending on the firmware

but it involves a rebuild - not difficult - if you have the disks
