I will always try and give a hiker a lift. Kind of payback for my many years of hitching. I also met young German guy at our local airport who had just flown in and been badly delayed by fog ( I was waiting to collect daughter who was also delayed ) he looked so worried that I spoke to him and offered him a place to stay ( I said that OH would be driving past in few mins and would take him to house so he didn't worry about being kidnapped by mad middle-aged woman) George was lovely and kept in touch for years . His hols were walking hols and he loved the Island.
