It's now the third time it has happened that my sisters VW Polo front electric windows have come down without being touched. The last occasion was overnight when the car was locked up and nobody was near it. Any ideas on this fault

Polos are notorious for electric window problems (as are Ibizas which have the same mechanism). They cost a lot to fix.
