I recently changed to Pantenne Repair and Protect shampoo and conditioner. I think it's between £3 and £4 per bottle so not too expensive but it seems to have a nice effect on my hair. It feels a lot softer and the broken short bits around my parting and crown don't stick up like they did. I was always told you shouldn't use Pantenne because it contains a lot of plastic and of course it isn't actually going to repair anything but it certainly looked and felt better.
oil attracts dust particles to stick to hair, that could lead to dandruff. Use a good creamy conditioner; gives elasticity/movement to hair. Sleep with it on, via a shower cap and rinse off in morning.
