I want to find out about something that happened around 1996, it made the national news. Where can I look to try and find it? I have tried googling it but with no sucess

I`m from North Devon. I don`t live there anymore but I`ve been a very frequent visitor until I left. I don`t remember hearing anything at the time. Minehead is Somerset so it wouldn`t have been covered. It would have been in the ND Journal for sure if it happened in Barnstaple. Their offices used to be in the High Street, but they have moved to the Roundswell area now. You used to be able to look at back copies when they were in the High street so I expect you still could. That`s where you need to head if you want to find out more.

Trying to find out a bit more about my half-sister. My Dad had told me I had a half-sister last night and told me a few things about her and I can't trust him as far as I can throw him so wanted to see if what he had said was true.
