AM radio goes up to about 1600kHz, =1.6MHz. FM starts at 87.5MHz. What, if anything, is in between?

All of the Short Wave broadcast bands, many of the Amateur Radio frequencies, Citizen's Band, maritime frequencies, aeronautical frequencies, lots of frequencies used by public bodies and private companies for mobile and fixed communications, plus allocations for radio astronomy and loads of other things as well!
