I thought this was nicely done, with some harder clues than in past weeks. My only quibble is that the "sixth line" is not exactly accurately "illustrated" - is it?

Hi drb, haven't really started it yet, merely read the preamble and realised I'm not going to be able to check the rhyme as I haven't got the appropriate ODQ, thanks for the hint about the sixth line though, will save me thinking I'm missing something.
What's your weather like in the Mid-West? Was speaking to some friends in NCarolina and they say they have had a stinker of a winter, much colder than normal and masses more snow than usual.

I sort of "bobbed along" solving EV today. I'd agree with you about the 6th line, first part is appropriate, but the second part is possibly a bit too high!
There was even a loose theme to the cryptic 2573 today.

Much snowier than usual this winter, but nothing like the east coast has been getting. Boston and NYC have gotten more snow in January than they would normally get for an entire winter. St Louis is looking at a potentially serious ice storm hitting tomorrow evening, which is much worse than snow.

Actually managed to look at this today and complete it. As always I managed to learn something new from it and it reminded me to feed our feathered friends.

Some enjoyable clues, but I'd never heard of the rhyme.The indidual involved is much more meek than the aggressive little tyke I've seen through my window these last few weeks.
