I got a chilli seed wedged under my thumb nail earlier. Quickly removed it, but now my thumb feels like it is on fire. Apart from chopping my own digit off, can anyone suggest anything I can do to cool it down please?! It's doing my noggin in.

We ate the yoghurt with the curry Helen.

Naz - spirits in this house? they don't last five minutes.

The salty water is strangely enough providing pretty much instant relief. Thank goodness.

In future, rub vegetable or olive oil on you hands before you cut the chillies - same with garlic. The oil absorbs the nasties and they wash off with the oil. It could be worse though BM, my pal's bf made a nice romantic meal for them one night which involved chilli - it wasn't till they went upstairs later on that the chilli provided a 'kick' for her.... ;)
