Parent's night tonight at school and my son asked me this morning if I had given any thought to what his reward for a good report would be and would we have time to go to town after our appointment!

Brilliant chap! Knows how to aim for what he wants.

lol - no games console, but might get him some nerf darts - got his brother to buy for too. would be shocked if either of them get a bad report. One lucky year I had Tesco vouchers about to expire so they got to choose (and play with) a tou about a week before parents night as we knew they'd be getting something. Gets expensive when they have 2 parents night a year each and 2 report cards a year each too! Might be cheaper if they misbehaved in class!!
Tell him you will continue to feed, clothe and house him.
aww that's lovely

Thanks scotman - he already knows that we did a family charter last week and those things are listed under parents responsibilities.

Thanks Bednobs - hope you are keeping well - think we have all been keeping our mouths shut and our fingers crossed. x
lol, he knows hes doing well.

My son is chuffed to bits on the days he comes out of school saying he didnt get his name put up on the naughty board lol
Question Author
it's a shame in a way when they behave at school all the time cos they get overlooked for the awards that are given out to kids who improve their behaviour after being wee tykes.
Question Author
lol red - that's min ein P6 and P5 now and they have never lost a minute of Golden time or had their name on the board.
the school my lad goes to has teachers "best effort" award, just for the child who tries their best, then no child is really overlooked.
Don't wish to be a party pooper, but why reward for trying for and achieving your best. This is like all those people in public sector jobs who expect bonuses for doing what they're paid for.
Question Author
They have a star pupil system where the winner from each class each week goes for a tea party with the headmistress. Inevitably it will go to a child who has behaved for the one week to get the award then goes back to being a little sod. The kids who are good all the time tend to get overlooked and I find it really frustrating. They are old enough to understand now, but when they were younger it was hard for them to understand. They always just got it at the last gasp of the school year.
Question Author
I agree to a point McMouse, but the kids don't get paid and it's good to recognise and award the fact that they behave positively and have a good attitude as positive reinforcement. I did tell him his award would be a big kiss and a cuddle but that didn't cut it somehow!!!
he's only 5, mcmouse :)

But i know what you mean, a friend of mine is always boasting how her kid gets lollies from headteacher for reading twice in one week! They are handed out icecreams sweets etc. for all sorts of minor things.
Question Author
Yeah, it's all positive encouragement - surprised she's allowed to give them sweeties though. I just get annoyed that it's only given to those who make the slightest of improvemnets - what happens when they just can't be any more good? Nothing!
