Graham, thank you for your link.
4) Those parameters may have changed in the USA but not in Europe where the TSH levels are between 0.3-4.9
6) I agree with the conclusion, but in my opinion the results of 237SJ are normal.
7) Again, I agree in principle but in my opinion the T4 of SJ's is normal.
I think that her Thyroid Function Tests are normal.....maybe repeating in 6 months time, but she does not need thyroid replacement in my opinion.

Thanks again. I will keep an eye on it. I originally went to the docs because I found I was putting on weight. The doc did a TSH test which came out at 7.8. She said she would do me again a few months later. She explained that I should have T3 and T4 tests as although I could have a high TSH result, it doesn`t necessarily follow that the thyroxin levels are low. Anyway I had another TSH test which was 5 something. No mention of the T3 or T4. They didn`t test for it. I realised I was getting nowhere. The above results are actually from a private hospital in Delhi where I happened to find myself. The report was posted to me so I had to interpret it myself. When my hair started thinning I went back to the GP where they once again tested the TSH (4.42). It says "high" next to that report but I`ve come to a dead end.
237SJ......Oddly enough normal parameters do vary from hospital to hospital and even from country to country. If you have put on weight, dry skin. lethargic and "gravelly" voice, then perhaps you are on the verge of needing thyroxine replacement. It is a tough call to either tell you what your body needs against what blood tests tell you that you don't need, if you get my drift.
You and your GP can only decide on that.
