This is very much a tongue in cheek question but am really stumped on it, the answer has to be creature related.
Where might you find Old Jem the scarecrow ?
Does anyone Know of a book with such a character, your help would be very much appreciated.

Jim Crow was a euphemism for racial discrimination in the USA. So, in a bigoted mind if Old Jem is another name for JIm Crow.

I know the girl was called Jem in To Kill a Mockingbird but was there also a scarecrow in there called Old Jem?

Mockingbird fits the theme. Haven't read the book properly so don't know if there is a scarecrow reference.
