I find it really hard to believe that they can transform up to 4 rooms in 60 minutes. What do you think?

Think they probably can but there is a squad of people helping out and just remember all the fixes are 'quick fixes' ie 101 things to do with a staple gun and glue etc.

Maybe the 60 mins is divided up into time slots although I have seen this on TV and it appears to be live so maybe not.

Can come round my house anytime!!! may take longer than 60 mins though!

I'd be willing to time them if they would have a go at mine.
I've often puzzled....now i know I probably sound thick 'ere.....but how long is the tea break? And surely it's not counted in the 60 minutes?

Hello maggie (waves) I loved today's makeover, didn't you?
i want to know how they can paint a wall and then hang curtains almost right away - surely it takes longer than an hour to completely paint a room and let it dry - or do they put the curtains on over the wet paint?

That's what I mean. Sometimes they have to put two coats of paint on and it takes at least 2-4 hrs to dry. Wish someone would nominate me as my OH hates diy.
Hi. I actually work on the show... so here's the truth!!
The work IS done in 60 minutes... absolutely no cheats allowed (more's the pity).

We are allowed to 'prep' during the morning of the filming, ie clear the rooms out, measure for shelves and where holes need to be drilled, cut the carpets to size etc, but that's it.

We start filming at 2 in the afternoon and have a half hour tea-break after the first 30 minutes. if we've been clever and all the painting has been finished then it tends to dry during the tea-break. If the weather is awful then the tea-break tends to last a bit longer to give everyone a chance to prepare for the second half and the paint to dry a bit.

The last 30 minutes are as manic as they look and we have to have everything cleared away from the gardens and the house hoovered before the surprisee arrives home at 5ish.

Hope that helps!!

(and anyone wanting a makeover should phone the number on the ITV website... the production team really struggle to find suitable properties and everyone has a chance)

Wow, that's brilliant. I never expected to get a reply from someone who acturally worked on it. Thanks
What utter rubbish. they paint over wallpaper and you can see that causes it to peel and bubble. Paint even quick dry takes hours to fully dry. Gloss can take couple of days!!!! You then see them laying carpet which touches the walls. if it was done in 60 minutes it would ruin the painted wall and new carpet. I would like to see the finish close up and what it looks like 12 months later
