Thats britain - new show - encoraging people to do illegal things?

just watched this and was surprised that someone was on it trying to see how helpful we are as a nation - all well and good - but he was trying to get people to drive other peoples cars illegally and uninsured!
and number of people did actually drive the car - albeit only a short distance - but what if one had dinged a nearby car?
this was in the guise of helping an old man out, but surely this is wrong ?
some will see this and think its ok to drive a strangers car 'as long as it only a short distance' and worse it may encourage blame claims (and even at a push assist sex attackers)...
i do take the point that people are inclined to avoid helping people out these days, and i am glad to see many did help him... but still isnt it a bit irresponsible?
what do you make of this prime time tv shows actions?
cheers

Who cares whether they're insure or not? Not me, some will help out and others won't, but it can hardly equate with people helping sex attackers joko!! Really - surprised at you!

maid up - what?? i didnt say people would help sex attackers! jeez
i mean its the sort of trick they may use to get someone into their car and kidnap them ... we are always told never to get into a strangers car, arent we? ... its just another way of doing it... its how ted bundy got his victims...
(and i also did say 'at a push' - which means unlikely but possible)
i also didnt say i personally cared whether they were insured - thats not the point here at all...
try to read properly before commenting...
daisya, you woudl still be held accountable if you had a car accident anywhere...the owners could still sue you.
a carpark is public area an normal road rules apply
also insurance is for the person - not the vehicle, so i am not sure how they could have made sure all those random strangers were insured...
im just surprised no one at the bbc said 'hang on a minute ...'

the problem is, they wouldnt have known whether they were insured or not...
and neither will other people who watched the show and try it themselves, thinking its fine as 'its not far'...
i am not covered for that and neither are any of my family.
you cannot assume.
of course in this instance the TV company would have paid for any mishaps ...but thats not the point...they wont be there in real life will they...
ankou...not sure of your point...
the point is, it is illegal to drive someone elses car uninsured.... they deliberately tried to get people to do this, many people did do it
there is uproar on here if someone drives uninsured for just one day because they were forgetful and didnt renew...as many state its an absolute offence... no excuse for it
is it ok to drive uninsured if you are not going far then?
i personally dont care and see no harm in helping a person do this - i am not saying all this because i personally am bothered by it - but given how cautious TV is about other things, for fear of backlash, i am surprised they allowed it.
its fine and good to help people, but this is asking people to break the law and risk serious penalty in order to help someone ... not really the same thing ... i wouldnt do it...

ah i see...
i would certainly help by guiding them ... but wouldnt actually get in the car...
i was the sort of victim of a deliberate car accident once and i was furious... because for all they knew i was on my way to hospital, or pregnant or whatever...as it happens they have made my bone condition a lot worse, causing internal scar tissue to form in my neck, and causing me permanent pain... but they just saw a young woman and thought 'thats fine' .... and although i got £2000 for it, they targetted the taxi i was in hoping the company would pay... but it was so obviously their fault...so would always be more wary of something like this being a scam
id be thinking, as you're reversing, they say keep coming...you hit a bollard... they ask you to pay, you refuse... and they threaten you with the police and driving without insurance etc... so you just pay up to stop that...
i will always help if i can...i helped an old lady after she fell once...i had to physically lift her up... and i think she then knew i was strong so therefore i must be a threat (!) and although i walked her all the way home carrying her bags for her, she treated me like i was about to mug her! - i felt quite hurt and angry by it...
