Question Author
Craft, you knew nothing about the origins of the subject but you were without doubt disputing its veracity because you assumed it was a tasteless joke. The question concerned the ignorance of a 17th century theologian - I told you that - but nevertheless you preferred to point the finger and jump to a vastly inaccurate conclusion - so if anyone has let herself down it isn't me. Your ignorance of the matter, and your failure to check it out, led not only in a perfectly legitimate post relating to a bona fide historical work of Christian history being removed, it resulted in doubt being cast upon my intellect and, moreover upon my integrity - and that I object to in the strongest terms because as a serious student of religion who doesn't lie, or make pointless and tasteless jokes, that, coming from someone I've always regarded with respect, is the worst of all insults. I would have hoped you knew me better than that, but it seems not.
For future reference, as several of my earlier posts over the years concerning the man Jesus will confirm, I do not mock him and I do not hold him in disdain. Far from it. In fact, I'll repeat now what I've said here many times before. I believe that, historically, Jesus existed, and I have every sympathy with him for what religion has done in his name because he has been, and still is, sorely misrepresented and abused by the very people who claim to defend him.
The record on this matter needed to be set straight and I believe I've done that. Now let this be an end to it.
My little button mushroom - I love the outfit. Suits you. ;o)
